Ivan Trasiev and Bozhana Dimitrova are
the Champions of Bulgaria for 2010
Almost without any hesitation Ivan Trasiev won the champion of Bulgaria in the last day of the State Championship. His gross score is 152 with handicap 4. Peter Kaloyanov who was the second golfer in the temporary standings remained at third position. On the 15th hole Peter Kaloyanov was only 2 strokes after Ivan Trasiev and everybody expected to see “sudden death” between the two of them. This term means that on an equal score both of the golfers play on the fist hole and the one who has better score wins.
At the end of the championship surprisingly Emil Markov made an excellent score and won the second place of the championship. Together with Peter Kaloyanov they have the same gross score of 155, but according to the rules on equal score the golfer whose score for the last day is better wins the game. The handicap of Peter Kaloyanov is 7 and Emil Markov`s handicap is 4. Alexander Evtimov remained on the fourth place as he was third in the temporary standings after the first round.
The ladies champion is Bozhana Dimitrova with a gross score of 168, with handicap 14. The best net score belongs to the lady who won the ladies cup in 2009 – Iliana Nedelcheva – Dimitrova.
Total 7 children participated in the championship. The best score amongst the youth showed Georgi Yotsev, and among the girls was Ivana Simeonova – 9 years old, the youngest participant at the fifth National Golf Championship.
Nikolay Kaloyanov, the president of Pirin Golf Club opened the championship and announced that this year the participants are two times more than in 2009. For the first time this year the whole alumni of “Golf Coach” subject of the National Sports Academy was incorporated in the State Championship. All players of Bulgarian National Golf Team also participated at the Championship. Among them are Todor Krustev, Konstantin Ikonomov, Stefan Kolchev, Zhivko Tenev, Oleg Chernev and others.
The golfers competed in two rounds of golf course designed by the professional player Ian Woosnam. The players are divided into four categories: men, women, boys and girls.
